I know that the pension continues to the spouse (at a reduced rate) once the Pensioner passes, however does the pension payments then continue onto the children once the spouse passes and if so, will it be at the same payment amount as the spouse or at a more reduced rate? Thanks

No pension payment is made to the children. The pension dies with the spouses passing.

In addition, however, should a Pensioner without a spouse die within their first 10 years on pension, there may be a residual benefit paid to the estate. Additionally should a Pensioner die during that first 10 years of their pension, and subsequently a eligible beneficiary spouse also dies before that original 10 years of the original pensioners pension, then again their could be a residual benefit to the estate or designated beneficiary. In all cases, as a CN Pensioner, you can get an official understanding of this issue and entitlements by calling CN Pensions at 1800-362-0739
