I've been married for almost 10 years. I filed for divorce a couple months ago and am worried my wife will be able to draw from my pension. I've heard she is vested after 5 years, but I've also heard it was 10. What's the reality?

Our pension plan rules can only be overruled by a legal divorce settlement. I would call CN Pensions and Benefits help line at 1-800-361-0739 for guidance as they should have all your personal information available to help you.

I contacted the CNPA by phone and was told a legal divorce can not overrule the terms of my pension. In other words, I have retired, divorced and remarried but my spouse at the time of retirement remains my beneficiary for the rest of her life and there is nothing I can do about it.
